// Victim Resource Guide
If your partner seems to know what you have said privately - in your home, on calls, or to others - audio surveillance may be present. You are not imagining it. This page covers how audio surveillance works in a domestic context.

// 01 - How Audio Surveillance Works
Audio surveillance in a domestic context typically falls into one of three categories. Each requires different detection methods and none can be reliably found without professional equipment.
A device that continuously broadcasts audio over a radio frequency. Can be hidden inside furniture, behind wall plates, or inside appliances. Your abuser listens remotely in real time. Detected by Safe Sweep RF spectrum analysis.
Radio FrequencyA device that operates on the mobile network - a hidden phone that your abuser can dial into. Works anywhere with mobile coverage. Cannot be detected by any consumer app. Detected by Safe Sweep GSM frequency analysis.
CellularRecords audio to internal storage for later retrieval. No signal is emitted while recording - making these the hardest to detect. Safe Sweep Non-Linear Junction Detection identifies electronic components regardless of whether the device is transmitting or powered off.
Passive RecordingSmart speakers, TVs, baby monitors, and security systems installed by your abuser may retain legitimate microphone access via their manufacturer app account.
Smart Home// 02 - Protecting Your Conversations Now
Until a professional sweep is completed, sensitive conversations should take place outside the property. A parked car further down the street, a trusted friend's home, or a public space away from devices are all more secure than anywhere inside your home.
Bedrooms, kitchens, and any room with a smart speaker, baby monitor, or security camera your abuser installed. If they set up the device, they may still have access to its audio feed.
// 03 - Signs Audio Surveillance Is Present
The most reliable indicator is behavioural - your abuser knowing things they have no right to know.
Referencing a phone call you made. Knowing a conversation with a support worker or family member. Using specific words only spoken inside the property.
Objects moved or replaced. Furniture with new holes. Wall plates that look recently disturbed. Unfamiliar devices plugged into power points.
Safe Sweep full-spectrum RF analysis and NLJD sweep finds audio devices that no consumer app or visual inspection can locate.
If conversations are getting out, we will find the reason or confirm the space is clear.
